I don’t have one of those regular alarm clocks on my bedside to rudely wake me out of my slumber on most days. I use my phones for that person and by default my BlackBerry is my alarm clock.
It works out well for me. Set the alarm for 5.30am, call out to the kids to wake up, hit snooze, enjoy nine minutes of drifting back to sleep, alarm goes off again, call out once again to the kids and repeat that cycle until I can safely hear them in the bathroom and that’s when I drag myself out of bed and get on with my day.
Last week on Sunday I had woken at 5.30am to get ready to go for the rally and I had set the default alarm as ON instead of Weekdays and yes, as you guessed it, I forgot to switch it back to Weekday mode.
So, as directed by the alarm clock, i get woken at 5.30am today and start with the cycle of yelling out at the kids. I realised it’s a Saturday when Dream Girl yells out at me from her room that it’s a Saturday and I should get a life. I was gasping at that. My daughter is old enough to tell me to get a life? I thought I was supposed to be subjected to such objectiveness when she’s a teenager!
Anyway, poor me, I haven’t been able to go back to sleep on the one day that I do get to sleep an extra two hours. I’ll spend the rest of the morning wallowing in that. You have a great start to the weekend…
Aww! It would appear that you just got smacked in the face by something that’s gonna happen for the rest of your life – YOUR KIDS ARE GROWING UP ๐ ๐ ๐ xx
