I quit my job last month after a huge miscommunication. I wish it had been handled with a bit more care but I guess my expectations were high of a place I dedicated my life to. We cannot control how things are dealt with but we can choose what to do about it. I suppose it was time, anyway.

Eventually, I sorted it out with the CEO and the GM, and have since left with the grace and dignity I felt I deserved. They have been absolutely wonderful.

I was going through some messages in my inbox (finally!) and found this. It has moved me to tears.

Read about your last show and have been updated with your Twitter. I am just writing to thank you for being a very important part of my experience in the diaspora – of staying connected with whatever holds us close to Bollywood and all of its colourful music. Over the years I have followed your blog, been updated with your life through Facebook and Instagram – you have brought many giggles to my difficult days, I also cherish your shout-out to date, you have made me think deeply about what is often ignored, you’ve also brought a uniquely placed perspective to my life. All of these things have collectively enriched me, and certainly made me a better version of myself. Thank you so much for bringing this uncountable joy to my life. I wish you and your kids the very best of luck for the coming time. I don’t want to overstep, but if there is anything I have learnt from you it’s that nothing can hold one back once one has decided to move forward. I thought about this message all day and how appreciated I felt. How wonderful that a person would actually take the time to appreciate you.

I walk away from this filled with gratitude and a lot of appreciation for everything. I’m also going to make a point to tell people how they positively impact my life. It’s easy to keep finding fault in everyone but it’s very hard to stop and actually appreciate the good people do.

Positivity henceforth. And lots of gratitude.
