Thereโs nothing like mutton keema. It has a great taste when cooked well, without too much fuss. I usually go for simplistic cooking style.
Hereโs the recipe. Hope you like. My kids love it.
Ingredients:
1/2 kg mutton mince
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tomato, finely chopped
1 teaspoon tomato paste
2 green chillies, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon minced ginger
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
Salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon garam masala
Chopped coriander for garnish
1 tablespoon cooking oil
Method:
In a pan, heat the oil. Add cumin seeds and allow to sizzle a bit. Add chopped onions and fry until golden brown.
Add ginger and garlic and cook for a bit. Keep stirring or it will stick to the bottom of the pan and burn.
Add tomatoes, tomato paste, green chillies, salt, chilli powder, turmeric and garam masala. Mix well. Add about a quarter cup of water to this mixture.
Cook for a minute while stirring well, then add the mince. Combine it well with the ingredients already in the pan.
Cook until all the water had evaporated. Cook on medium to low flame. Add a dash of lemon juice for that extra tangy zing, if you like.
Garnish with coriander.
Serve hot with roti, salad and yoghurt chutney.
It tastes great the next day in toasted sandwiches, by the way.
Enjoy!
Yum. This is a childhood fave. ๐ค
